This is to formally invite you to participate in the above research project.

This study is exploring the role of choice and creativity in data modeling. We are interested not only in finding the “correct answer” to this question, but in the views held by the data modeling community, and how they affect data modeling theory, teaching and practice.

We are using a range of approaches to investigate the issue, including questionnaires and an analysis of data models produced by experienced data modelers. Your participation should not require more than one hour.

Participation is voluntary, and you are free to withdraw consent at any time, and to withdraw any unprocessed data previously supplied.

Subject to legal limitations, all information provided will be treated as confidential to this project and no information that could lead to the identification of any individual will be disclosed in any publications, or to any other party without the individual's written permission. Data will be stored in a secure location, and retained for five years after the final publication in which it is used, then securely destroyed.

If you have any questions about this research project, please contact Graeme Simsion (contact details above).

If you have any concerns about the conduct of this research project, you can contact the Executive Officer, Human Research Ethics, The University of Melbourne, Tel +61 3 8344 7507 or Fax +61 3 9347 6739.
